This winter everyone has been coming down with the flu, but the solution to combating it is right in your kitchen.

It cannot be stressed how important it is to hydrate one’s self to prevent the on-set of the flu and to get rid of the flu, but no one really loves drinking water especially when it’s so cold. A suitable middle ground is green tea. Tea leaves are rich in polyphenols and antioxidant that optimizes the immune function. Therefore, this is a great way to get all the liquids your body needs to keep healthy.

Salmon is loaded with omega-3 fatty acids which naturally boosts the immune system. As one of the healthiest sources of vitamin D Salmon should be a staple feature of the diet as the natural vitamin C we usually get from the sun isn’t going to come from all this snow!

Go ahead and eat those blueberry muffins. Matter of fact; eat those blueberries all by themselves! Numerous studies have shown that blueberries are at the top of their league as being rich in anti-oxidants and disease fighting properties. Everyone knows vitamin C is critical to fighting the flu so this is the perfect time of year to put your favourite berries into a super-healthy iced drink or your warm treats (read pastries).

This list would not be complete without it. It doesn’t cure the flu but you will feel better and it doesn’t have to be fancy. Include beans, chicken a few vegetables and broth and you’re on your way to feeling better.
